AVERY Francis Robert Sgt M2/053125, 48th Division, Mechanical Transport, Army Service Corps, died  18/10/1918. Son of Robert and Annie of the village of Pitchcombe. His occupation in 1901 was a Millwright. Buried in Montecchio Precalcino Communal Cemetery Extension, Italy. Plot 6 Row B Grave 8

BATEMAN Alfred William   Pte 145195, 52nd Ambulance Train, Royal Army Medical Corps, died 21/7/1918 age 22. Son of Mrs Emily Bateman (widow) of the village of Pitchcombe.and the late Daniel. Buried in Lembet Road Military Cemetery, Salonika, Greece 1454

BRIDGEMAN Arthur Charles Pte 22600, 2nd Wiltshire Regt died 18/10/1916. Son of henry and Sarah Jane, nee Coates, 24 Albion Street, Stratton Glos (in 1901) Buried in Warlencourt British Cemetery, France. VI.D.38

CARRUTHERS-LITTLE Arthur William Palling Captain, 5th Dorsetshire Regt, died 7/8/1915. Son of Col J.C & Mrs Caruthers-Little of Pitchcombe House, Stroud, Glos. Husband of Olive Murray Lannoy Caruthers-Little of Calder, Charlton Kings, Glos. Commemorated on the Helles Memorial, Turkey

CARTER Percival Edward  Pte 27815, Royal Army Ordnance Corps died 28/10/1917 age 28. Son of Ashton John and Elizabeth Alice nee Steele of Kings Mill Lane, Pitchcombe, husband of Edith Rosetta nee Mills of Eagle Cottage, Pitchcombe. Buried in Porto-Gruaro Hospital Grounds on the Lemene and Venice-Triest Railway. This place was captured by the Austrians and it has not been possible to locate the grave Commemorated on the Giavera Memorial, Italy

HARMER Harry Cpl 240500, 1/5th Gloucestershire Regt, killed in action on Wednesday 25/4/1917. Son of Albert and Ruth of Small Mill, Cottage, Pitchcombe and brother of James Alfred who also fell. Commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme. His correct name is Henry

HARMER James Alfred Pte 17623, 11th Gloucestershire Regt, died on Tuesday 9/3/1915 age 29. in England. Son of Albert and Ruth of Pitchcombe and husband of Eliza of  Wick Street, Stroud. Buried in Brompton Cemetery, Brompton

SMITH Henry Wilson Pte 40076, F Coy, 2nd Otago Regt, N.Z.E.F died 12/10/1917 age 31. William Wilson and Eliza of Clareville, Wellington, N.Z. in 1901 census have his parents as Albert E and Sarah Ann formerly Brown of Longridge, Sheepscombe, Glos. He was born in 1895 and birth registered in Stroud Glos. His stepbrother Robert Sidney also fell. Commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium

SMITH Robert Sidney Cpl 7745, 2nd Gloucestershire Regt, died of wounds on Tuesday 27 February 1917 at Salonica. Son of Sarah Ann formerly Brown and stepson to Albert E Smith  of Longridge, Sheepscombe, Glos (1901 census) and husband of  Cecilia A Hawkins formerly Smith nee Williams of The Spread Eagle, Bisley Old Road, Stroud, Glos [CWGC have his parents as William Wilson and Eliza of Clareville, Wellington. N.Z] He was born Robert Sidney Brown, known as Smith, and stepbrother to Henry Wilson Smith who also fell. Buried in Lembet Military Cemetery, Salonika, Greece.817

VICK  Cecil Percival Pte 14998, 7th Gloucestershire Regt, killed in action 25/1/1917 age 19 at Mesopotamia. Son of Joseph and Lucy of The Beeches, Pitchcombe. Buried in Amara War Cemetery, Iraq XXIV.B.30

BALLINGER Brian Thomas  Aircraftman 2nd Class 1656807, Royal Air Force died 20/1/1943 age 21. Son of Albert Edward and  Amy Beatrice, nee Thomas of Gloucester, husband of Jacqueline Marjorie Ann of Gloucester. Buried in Gloucester Old Cemetery, Gloucester. Grave 8914
