Family Search. A searchable world wide IGI database on the Net. What more can I say. 

Family Research Link   On this site you will find an entire copy of the indexes of Births, Marriages and Deaths for England and Wales from 1837 to 2001. These images are available to search, view (including zooming in on those awkward-to-read names), save to disk and print for a modest charge

The British Library. Not much on family history, but an amazing site. Select Digital Library, then Treasures Digitisation. Or search - The catalogue of the British Library is online.

The Proceedings of the Old Bailey London 1674 to 1834. A fully searchable online edition of the largest body of texts detailing the lives of non-elite people ever published, containing accounts of over 100,000 criminal trials held at London's central criminal court.

BT Phone Net - Look up for finding UK telephone numbers (need Surname and Area)

Canadian Military Heritage Project

Eastman's Online Genealogy Newsletter. A weekly newsletter on the web or by email. 

The Federation of Family History Societies. List of all member societies, help with your research, books and CD-Roms for sale, etc.

The National Register of Archives

Images of England.  Pictures of English buildings - cathedrals, stately homes, castles, monuments. Part funded by the Lottery Fund. An ongoing project, completion 2002. At present the site provides only an introduction and a few photographs.

The Village Labourer 1760-1832.: A Study in the Government of England before the Reform Bill.

The British Library

Greenwood's Map of London 1827. If you love maps, or had ancestors in London then this is the site for you. Zoom facility with street names clearly shown. Selection can also be made by place name.

Victorian Census Project.  The Victorian Census Project at Staffordshire University aims to computerise a number of source documents and related materials relating to Great Britain in the mid-nineteenth century. These sources includes:-
The early and mid-nineteenth century census abstracts.
Vital registration statistics.
The returns of the Poor Law Commissioners.
Pigot's Typology of England and Wales.
Various other nineteenth-century documents of both a statistical and literary nature.

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission.   Provides a searchable war graves database.  

First World War.com  Covers all aspects of the First World War.
